One day course - Stock removal paring or small outdoor knife $450.00

Our one day course is a great introduction to knife making. You will learn how to make a kitchen paring knife or a small outdoor knife using the stock removal process.

Your will learn profiling and bevel grinding on a knife makers 2 x 72 belt grinder, handle scale making for a full tang knife, heat treatment and handle finishing. We then run a sharpening class using your knives from home and finish up sharpening your own hand made knife.

The course is limited to two places for a high level of tuition and hands on experience.

Two day course - Hand forged kitchen knife $800.00

(50% deposit due upon booking confirmation)

Our two day course is all about what makes forged knives special. The first day you will focus on the forging process, working the metal red hot on an anvil with hammers and manipulating the steel. You will then profile the blade on a knife makers 2 x 72 belt grinder before an overview of the heat treatment process. On the second day you will shape and finish the handle and take a sharpening class using your knives from home before we finish up sharpening your own hand made knife.

In between the two Saturdays the heat treatment, bevel grinding and handle construction will be completed allowing you to concentrate on the forging and finishing processes on your two days in the workshop.

The course is limited to two places for a high level of tuition and hands on experience.

Three day course - Hand forged kitchen knife $1200.00

(50% deposit due upon booking confirmation)

Our three day course guides you from start to finish as you learn each process of making a forged knife. The first and last day are the same as the two day course but over the second day you also learn how to heat treat the blade, grind the bevels and construct the handle. These three days in the workshop give you an in depth experience of the craft as you learn to make your own hand forged kitchen knife.

The course is limited to two places for a high level of tuition and hands on experience.
